Although trudging through national parks to treat sickly or injured animals is a wildlife vet’s main responsiblity, Pattarapol Maneeorn, also known as Dr. Lott, confesses he is no animal lover. Rather, he calls himself a selfish man, for he is devoted to nursing these animals in order to prevent animal diseases from spreading to humans – even when humans themselves are endangering the wild. As consequences of all our actions eventually return to affect us, Dr. Lott hope people recognize this selfishness is not just for the self, but for the survival of all life.
– Pattarapol graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from Mahanakorn University of Technology.
– He decided to study veterinary medicine because unlike humans, animals cannot speak; treating and caring for them becomes a more challenging task.
– He is the first wildlife veterinarian of Thailand and Southeast Asia.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBangkok, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBangkok event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
