Suwichan Phatthanaphraiwan is a Pakakeryor singer and musician. He was born and raised in Watchan Village, Kanlayaniwatthana district, Chiang Mai. He leads a seemingly ordinary life until he became the frst Pakakeryor lecturer at Srinakharinwirot University. Despite his progress, he has never abandoned his roots. He writes and sings Thai-Pakakeryor songs as well as plays tenaku (Pakakeryor mandolin) to illustrate the lifestyle and culture of the tribal people as well as the relationship between humans and nature. With his relaxing rhythm, his music has always been and will always be soothing to the soul. He continuously tries to convey the idea that communication is the origin of a deeper understanding – and understanding is the origin of peace.
– Currently, he is a Geo-Cultural Management professor at Srinakharinwirot University.
– Composes songs about ethnicity, telling stories of the local Pakakeryor.
– Communicates the value of humans through songs and projects ideas relating to the goodness of Pakakeryor.
– Co-founder of Wisdom of Ethnic Foundation, Mae Chaem Upstream Conservation Council, and Karen Community Ecomuseum. These places all encourage local Pakakeryor to see the potential of self-reliance and learn to reserve natural resources by focusing on the right balance between utilization and sustainability.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBangkok, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBangkok event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
